Baseball season is just around the corner. Post your questions or whatever here. I'll start with a trade offer.
I received a trade proposal recently in a dynasty league and wondering what the AO genius has to say. I was offered Brandon Phillips (2B) (Cin) & Trayvon Robinson (OF) (minors) For Ricky Romero (SP) (Tor) We just started free agency and I currently do not have a 2B. My other (potential) starting pitchers are: Yovani Gallardo (Mil) Cole Hamels (Phi) Jaime Garcia (StL) Michael Pineda (NYY) Matt Moore (TB) - starter or reliever Phil Hughes (NYY) - starter or reliever Daniel Bard (Bos) - expected to transition to a starting role You can only start 4 starters but if a guy has RP elgibility, you can also play him in this slot as well over a Saves or Holds guy. Would you pull the trigger?

What is available on the FA market? Is the downgrade from BPhillips to that worth the loss of Romero to whatever SP you get to fill Romero's spot?
Seems like a good trade (probably for both sides) to me at face value. Phillips is reliable 2B (but with little upside at this point), Romero is a good pitcher, with some upside if all goes well. |

16 team league? Yeah no brainer. Take the 2B. Romero is a nice starter but more replacable than 2B and in a dynasty you likely aren't drafting a stud 2B since they will all be kept.

dinosaur: Robinson's a decent prospect and I think should offset any perceived loss you might get in going from Romero to Phillips. |

Yeah, I would replace Romero in my starting lineup with Pineda most likely and rotate in Matt Moore if he gets the starting job when he's a 2 start pitcher for a given week. Always scouring the minor league market for top players. Basically that's how I've built most of my team as it stands today so now I am in need of a 2B prospect.

No brainer.
Robinson has no value in 2012, and unless he gets his contact rate up won't ever breakout either. But his potential, plus Phillips consistency ( though won't hit .300 again, and will likely be lucky to get double-digit steals still as he ages) far outweighs Romero, and he's got some scary trends: ERA won't be sub-3 again with a hr/f spike like the 2nd half and his k/9 has been going down since 2010. Isn't Daniel Rayburn an umpire? Do you mean Daniel Murphy or Ryan Rayburn? Either way, BP is an upgrade over any of those guys for just giving up romero. Do it before the other owner changes his mind. |

Oh, and if you need a 2B prospect, is Johnny Giavotella available?
Chris Getz is not the answer at 2B for KC. |

Yes he is. Looks like he was great in AAA and hit the learning curve in MLB last year.
