Unlikely...

Unfortunately I tend to agree with that assesment. Largely because I don't think thier pitching can be as bad in the 2nd half as it was the 1st and they have enough underperfroming/hurt position players to think they can sustain their offensive production.

But I still get a kick out of Punto & Lillebridge playing 3B for the Red Sox while Youk is winning player of the week honor for the White Sox and being mostly paid by the Red Sox.

And I'd still be happy seeing them on the outside looking in come October.

Your anger is misplaced.

I also agree that Red Sox have a good shot to get that second wildcard, but it really is an open race in the AL as there are just 3 teams below .500. I don't see Baltimore, Toronto, Cleveland or Oakland as teams that would be able to keep winning in the 2nd half, so that would leave TB, Detroit, Angels and Sox fighting it out for 2 spots.

I am 100% behind Bobby V on this one. Youk played like crap the whole year, and then as soon as he gets traded to another team, he's winning Player of the Week? Obviously Youk had not been giving 100%, just like Manny a few years ago.

Lillibridge was a throw-in. Not the most important piece in the trade. It does still bother me that they couldn't have gotten more. Even though he forced his trade, enough teams needed a 1B/3B that there should have been a better offer than what they got.

Jury is still out on Youk. His bat cooled off after the ASB.

For those teams who desperately need offense, and we know who they are, who's going to be available better than Youk?
