Didn't know that people with AIDS could have healthy children

My mom works at an organisation that deals with people with AIDS and she told me that for men the sperm is somehow ''purified'' (the HIV virus is removed) and for women they are given medication during pregnancy.

Also, a very disturbing stat: Canada accepts immigrants with AIDS. Even worse, more than 50% of these immigrants come to Québec since they are Francophone Africans. Like wtf man, why put our citizens at risk????

I am worried because I often have unprotected sex; I'll have to start getting used to condoms (real turn-off).

I read that one immigrant in Poland with AIDS knowingly infected 40 Polish women. Now I'm not saying the ones in Québec will do the same, but bringing in someone with AIDS is like bringing in a serial killer to your country.

first of all. AIDS is not the disease. It's a syndrome. HIV is the virus. You know what the average life span of people with HIV is in the states? Close to people without HIV. HIV is no longer the deadly disease it was 20 years ago. People can live happy and long lives.

Moreover, it is extremely hard to contract HIV. It isn't airborne, and dies almost instantly in the air. And if you have protected sex (which you should do anyway regardless of the percentage of people with HIV), your chances of getting HIV is basically to 0.

You're basically saying the government should blatantly discriminate against people with illnesses that is neither easily transferable nor lethal.

Well how would I know if someone has AIDS or not? And AIDS is deadly, other STDs are not.

why would you have unprotected sex with people you don't know well? that's just kinda dumb. i'd be way more afraid of getting something like herpes than HIV though since it's easier to get.
