I was using the calulation tips on page 415 for question 24.9
I punched the keys on my TI-30XS calulator twice, but both gave the result of 0.005357142, which is different than the given answer 0.005507174. Is it a rounding issue or I didn't follow the steps correctly? Can someone confirm? Thanks a lot. |

I cleared out, but now got 6.99346*10^(-11). Don't know where goes wrong.
I checked the Sigma x, the sum of all Si/(Ri*(Ri-Si) in the last step, and its value is 0.23968. But if I calculate sum of all Si/(Ri*(Ri-Si) directly, I get 0.03387566, which does not agree with 0.23968. It's weird. Are these steps not working on TI-30XS Multiview that I am using? |

I have figured out the problem. It was caused by the wrong FREQ entry that I used.
When calc sample mean, we should always set FREQ=One (unless you have repeats and intentionally use FREQ). I think the manual should add setting FREQ=One besides setting DATA=L3 on Page 415. |
