Actually, I've found it more important not to do self-defeating stuff.

Many things don't directly feed into my goals that I do, but looking back, actually helped.

First you need to define what you mean by success. It can sometimes seem obvious, but for most grown up tasks it really isn't as straightforward as one would hope....
