Assume management had their employees vote unanimously on whether to move your company to Oklahoma City with $4,000 pay raise for each employee and much lower rent expenses than you already have
Assume after the majority decides yes or no, the minority has to go with the majority's decision You will get reimbursed moving expenses up to $10,000 per employee, $4,000 salary increase, lower rent and utility by far, And.... In Oklahoma City you will get 30% off all cafeteria meals all the time without exception The only other catch is the workweek will be 7 to 3 instead of 9 to 5, and on Saturdays you will have to work a half day once a month and will get compensated time-and-a-quarter for those Saturday hours. Everything else stays same as now. Would you on behalf of your company vote for or against the move under these circumstances? |

Also assume you will be allowed to work remotely without moving, if majority votes yes,
If and only if you are married and your spouse is employed |

I would probably say yes, assuming you were in some higher CoL area. I doubt Oklahoma would be an improvement in terms of cost of living and quality of life from where I'm sitting. But if it was that or no job, sure, why not?

No! I'm in a higher COL and the tradeoff is not worth it. Seriously, Oklahoma?

Eh, $4,000 a year isn't a lot, and the COL there isn't much different from where I live, so no.
I'd do it for $20,000+ more a year though. Plus Kevin Durant is there, which makes it feel more like home.

I would never work for a company that would have the employees decide where the company should be located.

Cafeteria meals suck - I don't eat them.
No benefit there. |
