I'm planning my study schedule... Can someone tell me how many pages of reading there are in the Grossi and Kunreuther text (Catastrophe Modeling), syllabus says chapters 2-6. Thanks

I count 112ish from the ToC. About 10 of these are references. I'll likely read the introduction, adding 20 pages. I just saw that PML is covered in ch 7, the Risk Finance section. Weird that's not covered.

The book reads pretty easily. It's not too deep, and there's a lot of "writing" compared to your typical actuarial paper. You should be able to do more pages/hr, IMO. It felt more like a less boring CPCU reading (not saying much)

If I wont watch the videos(maybe ill watch 10-20%) or listen to tapes since I believe I can be more effecient with a manual, how usefull is TIA?
Im temped to go with ALL10 again, but just want to cover all the bases before I make the purchase. |

Have you ever used TIA before or are you asking about the coverage for this specific exam? I passed 6U last fall using TIA and will be using them for this exam, and one of the instructors (Angelo) is the same.

Im asking if the manual is comprehensive, i.e. the manual/notes contain all of the information needed to pass without looking at the readings like All10 does.

JMO, but goldfarb provided the most comprehensive manual i've ever read for exam 9. I read all source material, took notes and notecards on them, then relied on gf for the last 2 months. i did not feel adequately prepared for the ridiculous forms of bloom. Pt being, i dont think any manuals are up to snuff for bloom just yet. "needed to pass" requires some source material knowledge; probably a reliance on it.

BTW, it's time to get serious. After an intense 8+ week wait, I can move on from the last sitting. One more test.
