Is he actually trashing the CAS? If so, I think there are some Precept 1 issues with that.

Maybe not if he's speaking just to other members of the profession. Damaging the reputation of the profession probably requires that outsiders hear it.

Fair point, although are we sure there are no regulators at the health conference? If there is a regulator there that could go back to their state and damage the credibility of the P&C profession, an argument could be made, though likely a stretch.

Oh? CAS meetings often have 1 or 2 non-actuarial regulators speaking at them, but I guess they might not be at the opening session.

The Washington State Insurance Commissioner was at the last CAS meeting. Just sayin'. (Not an actuary btw. He was a dentist I think.)

I didn't take ADD's post as Smith actually trashing the CAS, but that the SOA stated goal of overseas expansion was implicitly abandoned with the selling (ADD's word) of the GI trac(t)k at a US focused health meeting.

I took ADD to mean that this selling of the GI trac(t)k domestically was trashing the CAS.

But that's must me.
