I started studying in June and am starting Reserves tonight. This stuff is coming pretty easily to me.
It's been a few years since I looked at this material and I've yet to look at the new stuff. Do you think it might be pushing it if I started this weekend?

No way. If you want it badly enough, you will find a way. Just buckle down and get to it!

I took the May sitting, and last November's sitting...the new stuff isn't AWFUL. I, along with many (maybe most) others who failed, were just thrown the proverbial curve ball on the test. Not expecting that ~14 questions would be on the new material (me basing this off of the SOA 250 packet topic distribution), plus the fact that the exam was very wordy (in PEs I was always able to attempt 30 questions, and was scoring between 17-23 on average for various ASM and ADAPT exams, I only was able to attempt 17 questions on the actual exam), I failed. Looking back on it, I am very disappointed and feel I missed an opportunity (50% pass mark - so I'm not too pleased with myself that I couldn't even do that, regardless of how screwy the test was). Assuming the November sitting is similar to the May sitting in terms of topic distribution and question style, it shouldn't be any more difficult to prepare for than exams under the previous syllabus.

I don't know what to tell you about getting new material though if you aren't in a position to obtain any for yourself.

It's the new material that's making me think twice about writing it in November. For those people who have a manual with the new material (regardless of whether you passed or failed), would you say it provides sufficient preparation for the exam ?

...I'm sure either ASM or TIA's section(s) on the new material is sufficient to prepare for the exam, as long as you study it enough to know it well.

...the problem will be when you study the sections tested in May, primarily, and the November exam contains large portions of material not tested in May that is on the syllabus.

...hopefully, that won't happen for you. ...or me.
