Default If you THINK you passed MLC - What are you doing next?

Wanted to see if anyone is taking advantage of having the exam released and is already jumping on their next step?

I'm leaning towards starting FAP ASAP...hopefully can get it down in 3-4 months? And then finally C in February....any highly motivated ones jumping on C in October? Or insights as to a better plan??

If I pass (I think I'm at an 18), I'll be in the air between C and MFE, leaning towards MFE just to get it out of the way and have both parts of M done.

I've got a number of co-workers telling me if your motivated to do it and treat the readings lightly you can get through it in 3-4 months pretty easily. It can also take a year as you can tend to procrastinate without solid deadlines for everything.

is this crazy?

I advise MFE because i think it's a little more predictable at this point with it being of CBT. Having just come off of it, I reccomend it.

oh ok, maybe that is reasonable. i just spoke with a friend who said his work program requires completion in 6 months after you start. my other coworker said that (s)he had to get the extension on it and almost ran out of time for it still....i'll attribute that to a lack of motivation when there is no strict deadline and say that 4 months should be doable. i really know very little about them though. my understanding is that there is some required reading and then end-of-module projects, then the midterm exam, then 3 more modules with projects, then a comprehensive final. is this about right?

I have 19 points so I think I'm going to call it good. I'm leaning towards MFE at the moment just because of timing (November vs. October for C), I'd rather have that extra month or so to study. Still gonna wait until final results are released before purchasing anything, though.

Ya...the modules have readings which as I was told you don't really NEED to do...so you can get through it much quicker if you realize that. You actually grade your own modules versus the example answer and see if you hit the minimum points (they are usually pretty straightforward as long as you put some effort in)...they also randomly select modules for review so you want to do it honestly..

The IA (interim assessment) you have 30 days to do once you get to that point...you have book access etc...i believe basically a paper..

Then more modolues...then your FA (which you have 96 hours to essentially write a 15-20 page paper?...but I've heard some take as little as 2.5 months for the ENTIRE FAP...while others have taken more than a year..

Keep in mind, you have 30 days to do your interim assessment (I guess if you were driven, you could complete in a week) and then you have to wait for the SOA to grade your interim assessment before you can start your final assessment. (I had to wait about two months for my results, although that was plenty of time to do mods 6-8.) So, you might have 3 months from when you start the IA until you can start the FA.
