Default Wimbledon 2012

Leading up to Wimbledon-

Andy Roddick and Andy Murray both upset in Round 2 @ Queens today.

Yesterday Halle named a street after Federer.

Wildcards are almost all set.

Default Another one bites the dust @ Queen's

Quote:
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga became the latest high-profile casualty at the AEGON Championships after he was knocked out by Queen's Club debutant Ivan Dodig in the third round on Thursday.

Tsonga, who reached a career-best quarter-final placing at the French Open earlier this month, was expected to win this tournament after Andy Murray's exit on Wednesday, but Dodig showed remarkable composure to clinch the match 7-6 (7/3) 3-6 7-6 (7/5) and set up a quarter-final meeting with 2010 champion Sam Querrey.

Tsonga's draining French Open campaign looked to have had an effect on him as the second seed moved sluggishly around the court and failed to strike the ball with his customary power and finesse.
Dodig is one of those scary guys the rest of the tour doesn't want to see on their side of the draw. However, he will have a harder time against SQ, who has a good chance to win his second title here.

The Whole Article

Not sure why but Nadal is playing at Halle this year instead of Queen's... Tomorrow Nadal plays Kohlschreiber and Federer plays Raonic (quarters). Djokovic isn't playing a grass-court warm-up tourney.

Kohlschreiber takes the first set from Nadal this morning. On serve right now in the second.

And Nadal is out. So much for a Nadal/Federer possible Wimbledon preview.

Federer wins in in 3.

He will get at least one more practice round for his favorite Grand Slam event.

Federer loses to Haas in a close final @ Halle.

Nalbandian is ejected from the Queen's Club tournament after injuring an line judge by kicking a sign on court. He was up a set and down a break at the time to Cilic. Cilic is awarded the prize; Nalbandian loses all of this tourney money and is fined by the ATP.
Story from the Washington Post

Tweets today from @darrin_cahill:
*With the domination of the top 3 in the men's game, the #1 ranking can change hands after @Wimbledon. Here's 3 basic scenario's.
*Federer will reclaim #1 if he wins the @Wimbledon title and Djokovic fails to reach the final, breaking Sampras' record of 286 weeks at #1
*Rafael Nadal will reclaim #1 if he wins the @Wimbledon title and Djokovic fails to make the semifinals.
*Novak Djokovic is assured of retaining the #1 ranking if he reaches the @Wimbledon final
