Advice Please

I just passed my final assessment for the FAP and will be an ASA as soon as I make it on the list (end of July). I currently live in the US but have a girlfriend from England. We met while we were both traveling and she came to live with me this past winter for 3 months on the visa waiver program. We are now ready to move in full-time together so at least one of us needs to relocate permanently.

She could come here except she is just a lowly journalist and will have a hard time finding a company to sponsor her with a visa. My current thinking is that it might be easier for me to go over there. Another option would be to both relocate someplace that is neither the US or the UK. She can live anywhere in Europe without a visa and I believe it relatively easy for her to move to most of the commonwealth countries as well.

Here is my game plan:

Until I am on the new-ASA list, I will send my resume out to companies that are in the US but are international and see if they have any opportunities that are promising.

After I am on the new-ASA list and can actually call myself an ASA, I will start applying to non-US companies.

Here are my questions: Does this sound like the right way to go about doing it? What do you think the ease would be of finding a new job for myself given that my search will be pretty broad (Europe, Australia, New Zealand)? How long would you expect this process to last?

Any other advice that pertains to my current situation would be great as well. I have 3 years of life/annuity experience and a green-card wedding is not an option. Thanks!
