Sorry for laughing...

If you are ok with handwavy stuff it doesn't take a lot.

If you are like me you would want to learn Quantum Field Theory and the Standard Model... The Standard Model is thought to not be fundamental.

And then you would need to understand why people think there must be something like the Higgs, even if the Standard Model is wrong. This last part is not that hard.

A lot of free lectures.
