Default Freezer is getting hotter

So my freezer unit, which is suppose to be running at -1 is currently at 5 degrees and seems to be fluctuating between 4 and 7. I have a manual display on the door that shows these numbers. The unit is about 8 months old.

We checked to see if anything in the freezer was blocking the air flow. Nothing seems to be. What should I check next? Any chance this is part of an auto defrost cycle?

Pretend I know nothing about freezers. Because I don't.

How do you know that it is an issue with the freezer and not the thermometer measuring the temperature?

Hmm how warm was the last body that you stuffed in the freezer? That could be the problem. Next time wait until the body gets to room temperature before stuffing it in there.

The Fridge/Freezer operates on a heat exchange. The most likely culprit is that the HE is faulty. You need to have someone come take a look at it.

Is there a fridge too, and does the fridge work?

Is there room behind the unit for it to vent the hot air away?

If you're under 1 year, should be under warranty, get a repair guy out to deal with it.

If it's auto-defrost it should be colder sometimes, does it ever get cold?

Auto-defrost heats up the inside of the freezer briefly to melt off any frost that has accumulated. This should happen once every few hours, but not constrantly.
