Default Offer after internship

How long typically will it take for a company to notify you if you'll receive a FTO post-intern?

Every company is different. My advice is to ask students (who used to be interns) with the company about their experience. Use that as a proxy and take into account any changes in environment factors that may be different between now and when "they" interned.

Would specifically asking around about this cause you to be perceived as presumptuous? Or is it generally considered valid to ask?

Usually, you get in the concerned person's office and mention that you would just LOVE to have a spot when you graduate.

I interned somewhere (and it's still too early to work full time) but all the interns -> FT loved sharing their experiences. Especially if you're new to act sci or to the firm.

for me it was 4-5 months after finishing the internship, but it was more a question of waiting for a full time position to open up - didn't have much of an interview when i went back.

This is a perfect question to ask HR - either before you start your internship or at any time. You really should know this ahead of time. Some companies 90% of interns get offers. Other companies it may be 25% or less, depending on openings.

"What is the process that you follow to determine if interns are offered full time positions? When does that process occur?"
