Default Group Rate & Single Occupancy?

I am planning on registering for the APC soon, but I don't understand what these terms mean.

1) What is a group rate, and how is it any better? I am looking at the APC pdf right now, and this hotel:

http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/crownep...cp/hoteldetail

Has a "group rate" of $135 per night. If I go through their website without any discount codes, I get the same exact rate (or better). Does this rate include complimentary breakfast and other meals or something?

2) How is it a single occupancy? I thought a single occupancy meant a shared area, like an apartment--Where you have separate rooms but a shared bathroom. I don't see any options for suites with separate bedrooms and a shared bathroom on the website. So does it just mean I will be sharing a room with someone random? So a room with 2 double beds? Wouldn't it just be better then to reserve a normal room myself?

3) What is the policy on bringing guests? Do I get the group rate if I want to reserve a room for a friend/spouse? Do I need to reserve 2 at the group rate since they are single occupancy? Even if we plan to share a bed?

Thanks.

Single occupancy usually refers to 1 person in a room. Some hotels charge for an extra guest, but I've seen that mostly in Europe, not so much in North America, so I would expect you can just reserve 1 room and have two people in it. You can call and ask, or check their website.
