Judging from your posts, I would think you have pretty good non-tech skills. I am confused.

Sending typed messages (text, email, etc.) is different than talking to people in person.

I think he's saying he doesn't like dealing with people. This forum is a place where you can be a jerk without repercussions, and DTNF likes to do this on occasion when he thinks people are being idiots. That won't fly at a lot of places.

OP, "soft skills" is just a different way of saying, "do we/other people like dealing with this guy?" /thread

Technical skills = knowing stuff

Non-technical skills = stuff that people who don't know stuff try to claim is as valuable as technical skills (sadly, they are generally successful, since there are so many idiots in decision-making positions, placed there by the last batch of people who don't know stuff)

I see. Of course, I assumed he wouldn't be doing that in person.

They are great, when people don't know how bad they are. That's why I prefer those poor judges of soft skills. (you know: actuaries!!)
But in reality, it really is those other people's fault for being too sensitive about what I say, and for being stupid.

I have plenty of time to edit myself in this forum before posting.

Not sure how you got all of those conclusions. I usually ignore the idiots around here. Still a few non-idiots to discuss things with here.

Well, I'm actually quite shy around new people. Mainly, because I don't want to get to know them. Or at least, to get to know them so quickly.

....

So at least for me, all "skills" are lumped together in one category...but somehow I have enough intuition to recognize the perceived dichotomy between technical and non-technical which so many others have expressed in this forum.

Can anyone explain this?
Only an actuary would ask this..

First one is more in jest than truth. (Not to say it's 100% not truthful.)

You know who else don't like BS? Ditka!

What about Ditka versus BS in a cage match?
Ditka in a reverse headlock 3 seconds in.
