The chairs are for you to sit on and the boxes are the tables.

A. List all options. Pick one randomly. You'll almost surely be much better off this way than by following an "expert"'s advice.

on site i understand.

at your desk is just begging for the time to be interupted and not as useful. and that's not the point of study time.

Here they allow you to take company study time wherever you want (home, library, coffee shop, work) at the manager's discretion. Basically its a "we trust you to be actually studying until we find a reason not to".

Spent my my company study time drinking on terraces and told by bosses about it, but then studied later when I got home. Silly companies that have draconian rules about study location should be avoided.

Encouraged, but not required, to study on-site. My manager doesn't care where I study (and she would study at home quite a bit.)

I don't care if the students spend their time drinking at the beach as long as they pass. If you don't study at all, you are going to fail and not be able to take exams within the year anyway. If you want to do this and then be kicked out of the actuarial student program, be my guest.

Personally, I always studied at the library. I would hate studying at my desk.

ETA: Of course, there's that guy in the CAS 9 forum who only put in 120 hours and passed. Maybe there is no need to study on your study days any more.

and this.

I can understand maybe if you fail all the time that they would monitor you, but you might as well be hourly employees if they're going to micromanage you like that.

You know what the point of study time is? To give you a better chance to pass your exam. If you study better not at your desk, do that. If you study better at home in shorts and a tee shirt with music playing, do that. If you study better at a coffee shop with that atmosphere because it reminds you of cramming in college, do that. If my company wanted me to fail my exams, they'd make me study at my desk.
