During one of the TIA videos, the instructor mentioned that you can search the distribution tables on the CBT exams by typing in keywords. However, I asked a coworker who took C last time (and failed) and she said that capability was not present. Does anyone know if that is a new change or has anymore information about it?

When I took the exam in 2009 you could search by keywords on the distribution tables. Not sure if they changed something since then or not, but it seems unlikely.
Or, with Dave's input... maybe they did?

Is there a normal distribution calculator like in MFE?

No search function, just a drop down menu that will take you to continuous distributions, discrete distributions, normal table, and chi-square table.
No normal distribution calculator, they give you the normal table. The search function would be great though. I will have to e-mail the SOA to see if they can get this put into the exam. |

Search used to be in there, so if it isn't now they probably made a conscious decision to make it that way. On the other hand, maybe they didn't realize they were screwing up the search functions when they provided the most recent set of tables to Prometric... I guess it can't hurt to ask.
I'm glad this discussion came up, I had been planning on being able to use the search function and it would have thrown me not to be able to do that...

This is my first time sitting for Exam C, and after going through and surviving the blood bath that was the May sitting for MLC and not having anywhere near enough time to finish it, I wanted to find any time savers I could for C. Unfortunately it looks like I'll have to start familiarizing myself with the location of the distributions and the general layout. I wonder why the SOA took away that capability of searching tables, seeing that it was possible in past exams.
