Default Do you think some sports are less than other sports?

I remember Bill Cosby once said in his show "skiing is a white sport". I suppose he meant skiing is less than sports like basketball. If that's the case, do you think some of these Olympic sports are not much of sport?

I don't think that's what Bill Cosby meant.

Sienfeld once said that the luge is the only sport where the participants may be unwilling and you wouldn't know the difference.

Skiing is a white sport because of the color of snow.

No one will ski on snow that is any other color. At least no one in their right mind.

I know . . . "racist"!!

But to the OP's question . . . there's only one word that's dignified to use in response.

Spoiler:

NASCAR

Golf and hockey are "white" sports - it costs a lot to play on a regular basis. Even if you have the equipment, you still need a place to play that typically isn't free like a basketball court or an open field. Same with skiiing. These aren't accessible to poor inner city youths who are predominantly african american.

Skiing is only accessible to people who live near ski mountains. It is not a color issue. My kids who are white have zero chance of being great skiers. If blacks moved into mountain towns, I am guessing they could become good/great skiers.
