Canadian Bronze Pride
I mean, bronze is better than nothing, but, there's all these stories of triumph over adversity, and lifetime dreams about our bronze winning athletes. I mean, I sure as heck couldn't even come close, but can we stop trying to be so proud of being the second loser? It's better than 4th, but, the way it's made out, often it sounds like we're pretending it's the same as winning (which, I don't think we've done in anything yet IIRC)

Canadians John and Michelle Law (The Laws) were one of three finalists in a songwriting competition. As John says, Canadians are not very competitive.
The night before the winner was announce, John and Michelle were watching Jerry Seinfeld. One of Seinfeld's bits was "The thing about coming in second is that it makes you first of the losers." John and Michelle started chanting "Please let us be third." Spoiler - :
