well, the defintion is something like this: a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement

Would it be racist to have a white only golf club, on privately owned land?

How about a privately owned school?

Clearly it's racial discrimination. And it's intolerance, but that's another word for discrimination.

It's complicated because it may not necessarily be intolerance. It matters WHY there is the discrimination.

The "Racism" part comes in the explanation WHY those places exist. Racism comes from inside.

Is it racist to vote for a guy for president because you have "white-guilt?"

Tolerance and racism seem like totally separate things. If being a racist means believing one group is different from another that doesn't mean I can't tolerate that difference. For instance most of my friends in high school were Asian, and we were sure as **** different, but we tolerated each other's differences.

I don't think racism can apply to an individual. It is by definition a statement about a groups tendencies. To the extent it applies to an individual it can only do so if you can't make statements about the individual besides his inclusion in a group.

My charter school admitted people based on math tests. It was mostly Asian and Jewish. There was one black kid and zero hispanic kids. They sued our school for racism several years in a row to shut it down.

Was our school racists against blacks or racists against kids who weren't good at math?

Kids who weren't good at math is not a race.

There's a reason why they weren't good at math, and that's cause they didn't have an as privileged upbringing as Jewish or Asian kids. I fully support Obama's initiative. I will be voting for him.
