A church is a place of reverence for worship, not a library.
They make the alkies take the back entrance that goes directly into the basement so I didn't really consider that part of the church. And I don't know how it feels to have a religion so I wasn't sure if it would be disrespectful or not.

Can you be court ordered to do AA? Is there a nonbeliever friendly version?

I don't think you can be court ordered to AA specifically, but you can be ordered to therapy as a condition of probation or delayed sentencing. In some jurisdictions, AA would count, but there has to be options available to the individual that does not involve religious organizations for this option to be viable.
