Cell phone provider

Hi. Question for anyone who is living in Iowa at the moment. What cell phone providers are available and what is the service is like? Do you also have coverage outside of Iowa (specifically - do you have service in Minnesota as well)?

I would say Verizon, US Cellular & AT&T Wireless are the most popular here. We also have Sprint, Nextel, T-Mobile & Cingular (maybe others that I'm forgetting?). I guess it depends on where in Iowa you need coverage to decide which carrier you want to go with. I know that Sprint and T-Mobile only have good coverage along the interstates, not anywhere else.

We currently have AT&T and are not that impressed with their coverage outside of Des Moines - about an hour out of the city in any direction and we have no signal. US Cellular and Verizon seem to be pretty good, though. I think most companies have local, regional, and nationwide plans. I would think Minnesota would be included in some of the regional plans. (But it is not included in our regional plan with AT&T.)

US Cellular had bad antenna coverage right in the middle of Des Moines. It may be better now. I was happy with T-Mobile while I was there, but rarely ventured into the country.
