If I recall correctly, you were expected to put your paper on a 3.5" floppy and then put it into one of the 10 "seminar laptops" that were hooked up to "seminar printers".

So when you type up your document, you need to make sure that you "paste special-> picture" your tables so that your word document isn't too huge.

Also, a few things to consider:
1. it would be much quicker to copy the document to the hard drive first before opening it and printing it. However you have to remember to delete it afterward.

2. the laptops at the pension seminars in Montreal had working usb ports. So theoritically you can bring a flash drive and use it to transport files to the common computer to print. (ofcourse, you still have to use floppy disks to turn in your paper)

3. I actually brought my own printer. It was useful in that I don't have to go downstairs to print, but it was somewhat bulky to carry onto the plane. If you are considering bringing your own printer, only do so if you are bringing a laser printer. An ink jet is probably too slow to be of much use. (it would take you just as long to go downstairs, print on the SOA laser, and return to your room as ink jets actually prints)

I believe so - but they'll tell you. I think the admonition was "to make sure you were down there about a half-hour early to make sure you got your printout on time". But it's been almost a year, so the scars are fading...

They do allow you to print after the 10 hours is up, however if you plan to do so, also plan to hang around up to an additional hour. In my session about 25 people out of 120 printed after time was called and I was the last one, about an hour later.

My mistake.

I don't know. I was out of the room.

Seriously, when I came downstairs, there were very few people in the room until the last hour. I recommend staying in the hotel after the last night so that you have your hotel room to work in.
