Hello, I'm going to the University of Toronto in September and I would like to do Spec Actuarial Science in my second year. In order to enrol in that program I need to take Calc, Alg, Eco and ComSci in my first year. However I have to choose two more courses. I was just wondering if anyone can give me some advice on what courses might be useful for Actuarial Science? For example, is Accounting useful...do you have any other suggestions. I am thinking of taking French but I still haven't decided what my other course should be.......Can you please help me

I am in 3rd year at U of T, doing Act Sci, so I can probably help you out.
You will need a Humanities, so French is a good idea, and also a social science, ECO100, which you got. So the third course is really up to you. I didn't find accounting to useful, yet at least, so you might want to just take a course that interests you. Maybe one that you won't have a chance to take later on in 2nd, 3rd, 4th year. Like Psych, or Philosophy, or History or something like that because you will not be able to take it later on, for several reasons (can't have more than 6 100 level courses, timetable conflicts, won't have the right prerequisites, etc...) Hope this helps. |
