Default Reporting Exam Misconducts

Hypothetical situation: You are a candidate taking an exam. You suspect that another candidate failed to follow instructions (e.g. he didn't put the pencil down fast enough, or he was taking scratch papers out of the exam room). It appears that he didn't do that on purpose. He was just nervous. You are not sure if the proctor noticed that or not. Would you go ahead and report him to the proctor? Or to the SOA/CAS?

Only cheating deserves to be punished ... the pencil thing could be a problem though ... but does someone deserve to fail and start over 300 hours of study for those seconds ... I don't think so

And getting a paper out of the exam ... I think a lot of us believe that we should be allowed to get answers or whatever out of the exam .. They should give us a proper paper to do so ...

I believe the SOA should synchronize exam so that everyone start at the same time ...

People in Europe and Asia might find this to be a problem.

Depends on what time the soa goes with. Someone will find it a problem, that's for sure.

Let the proctors worry about it. I have an exam to focus on. Now if I thought someone were cheating that might be different.

The pencil thing is serious, but you weren't specific in the description. If he filled in bubbles after time was called, then it's reportable. (Don't worry, nothing will happen to the person; it's more just a reprimand of the proctor.)

Yes, something will happen to the person. I've seen it happen when at an SOA exam with person A, B and me. Person A finished the WORD he was writing when time was called. 2 seconds at most, probably not that. Proctor didn't see it. Person B reported it to proctor. Proctor wrote it up. Person A's exam was not graded. Person A went through a lot of hoops and a lot of heartache to convince SOA no cheating occurred and eventually get a grade.

If I didn't feel cheating was involved, I wouldn't report it. I'd hate to see all that work go down the tubes due to an innocent error. Cheating is a different matter and should be reported.

Maine-iac, why are you protecting names here? If person B really did that, I think you should tell us their name. Was it Sir Slack A Lot? BSpecs? Tell US!!!
