1) Do companies offer sponsorships(H-1B)for
the entry level candidates? I'm a May2002(Expected)Graduate, first four CAS exams done but no experience.

Recruiters seem less interested in entry
level students and even lesser in those who
require sponsorships.

Should i apply directly to companies?
What are my prospects of getting an H-1B?

2)Is there any searchable database(s) for Large(P&C)Insurance companies with significant international operations, which can sponsor employees for permanent work visas?? I've already tried SoA membership directory, wrote to a number of fellows and associates, they all replied that we've sent your resume to the hiring authorities, but no replies afterwards.

Should i keep sticking to it?

Thanks in advance....

There are some companies, especially some Consultants that offer an H1B ..but I think you have to do your masters degree in the US to be sponsored...unless ofcourse some company gets impressed with your CV and decides to fly you down to US for an interview. btw, where are you from??

I know several people who received H-1 visas. They work(ed) for CIGNA, AFLAC, Pru, Milliman. Try contacting those companies directly, addressing the letter to "Director of Actuarial Recuiting" or something like that... I am sure there are other companies who are doing this as well. Best of luck.

Yes, apply directly to the companies. Recruiters won't seem interested because most companies won't deal thru them on this particular issue. It seems easier to get Canadian companies to hire non-citizens than U.S. Have you considered that as a first step? Once you are a Canadian citizen, you can easily come to the States.
