Anyone else watch this show? I'm fascinated by it. I really didn't want to get hooked on another show, but this one was too good to pass up. I'd be interested in hearing people's ideas about what's happening on the island.

I think it has a lot of potential. The main problem with this type of show is that too often, the "mystery" gets dragged out until the audience gives up. I hope that doesn't happen here.

I was actually looking to get hooked on another show, what with the O.C. and 24 not being on. I'm a sucker for plot twists and surprise endings, so yeah, I'm enjoying this quite a bit.

A couple of theories I've heard:

- they are all having their greatest wish granted

- they all died in the plane crash, the island is a sort of limbo or purgatory, and their actions there will determine whether they go to heaven or hell (possibly being taken to hell by that huge monster thing in the jungle)

I'm not so sure his father came back to life. After all that trouble he had with bringing his dad's body on the plane, I wouldn't be surprised if he was never in there. Would explain his angy reaction of smashing the coffin instead of being shocked/confused. And then it explains why his dad was always disappearing and no one could see him but Jack.

The polar bear in the comic book is interesting. I think there's something to Walt (the kid). When he wanted his dad to look for his dog, he said he would after it stopped raining, and then it stopped raining. Interesting.

I also think there's symbolic meaning to the name Locke (the guy who can miraculously walk again).

I like finding out the back stories to the characters, but I don't want it to be drawn out forever so we lose interest like the Captain mentioned.

FYI, tomorrow night's episode is supposed to have the backstory for the Korean couple, and next week's will focus on Charlie (the bassist who no one recognizes) and his rock band.

I don't think Jack's father came back to life, either. Jack needed to bury his father, and all the baggage dad loaded on him his whole life. I believe the casket was empty, and at some point, Jack/mom would go back to get it, but they were going to bury that casket when Jack got back to the states.

Yeah, he was Charlie on Party of 5. I agree, he's pretty to look at.

I so didn't see the twist with the asian couple last night. Who knew she was gonna try to run away?

And the white and black rocks must mean something. And Locke saying you get what you want if you give the island something. Hmmm.

I don't watch TV, but I did hear about the Cardinal's dismal showing at the series. Don't rub it in.

That's my wife's theory (not the second part, but the first). She felt a need to explain the whole wheel-chair guy walking and killing a boar plot line (which I didn't witness first hand, but was told about) in a rational way.
