I didn't give after 9/11.

I was actually turned away, there were too many volunteers.
Though I do give regularly {blood 4x / yr; platelets 6x / yr}

Glenn, tell me it ain't so. By DNA testing you mean that they get your DNA profile from your donated blood and keep it on file just in case they want to charge you with a crime? I wouldn't donate either under those circumstances (and I have no criminal history nor plans).

I give, but only 3 times a year (wasn't able to give 9/11 since I was pregnant). For some dumb reason the job only has the blood people coming out 3 times a year, instead of 4, and the times that they have available don't leave any time for in between giving.

Would love to give every 8 weeks, but there's no blood center here anymore since no one ever gave at it, so it would mean an hour drive just to donate.

Nobody wants mine anymore either

And Patience:

Also -- are you donors getting yourselves on the national bone marrow registry? Slim chance of ever being asked to donate marrow - but if you ever do get a match, you could well be the only one eligible to save another's life.

I gave two or three times a year before 9/11, and I still give 2 or 3 times a year. I'm thinking of cutting back, because I always have trouble when I give blood, but then I feel guilty about not doing it. . .
