Default Lacrosse fans here?

I try this every once in a while, usually with little or no response. But new people signup all the time (at least it seems that way, maybe it's the same 10 people signing up with new names ), so Im trying again.

Anyone here interested in lacrosse? I prefer the indoor game to the outdoor one, but I definately enjoy both. With the indoor season kicking off last weekend and the NCAA season not far off, just wanted to see if anyone was around.

I'm a lacrosse fan for about 3 days out of the year, for the Final Four of the NCAA's on Memorial Day weekend, to inevitably watch Syracuse try for another championship. I believe their streak of consecutive Final Fours is over 20 years now, which is pretty amazing, despite the relatively small number of schools that have good lacrosse programs (Johns Hopkins, Princeton, Georgetown, Maryland, Virginia, UNC, Navy, Notre Dame come to mind, but none of them have a Final Four streak of longer than a few years in a row).

Do Paul and Gary Gait still play professionally?

Gary Gait plans to retire this year.

I went to Hopkins so by law I have to be a lacrosse fan. Don't understand most of the game but I enjoy watching it.

Funny seeing Quint Kessenich doing football on ESPN. He graduated the same year that I did and is one of the greatest college lacrosse goalies ever. Hard on the ears doing football, though.

By the way, Jim Brown is in the college lacrosse HOF.

And although he never played competitive lacrosse after college, he left a permanent mark on the sport: A rule requiring players to keep their sticks in motion while carrying the ball was imposed with him in mind. Nothing else seemed to slow him down.

Paul retired a few years ago due to back issues. Gary still plays, but announced he plans to retire after he finishes this season with Colorado in the NLL.

Minnesota just got an indoor team, starting later this month. Looking forward to it, got season tickets -- 8 home games, all on weekends, cheap too. With the NHL lockout, hopefully people will check it out, enjoy it, and build a following. They had an exhibition a couple weeks ago (vs. Gary Gait and the Colorado Mammoth), and it was a riot listening to all the fans who had absolutely no clue what was going on. Doesn't take much lacrosse savvy to appreciate the seven or so fights, though.

The indoor game is so much fun. Glad to hear there is at least one other fan on the board. Minnesota is 1-0 already after beating Rochester, so off to a nice start.

I've been a season ticket holder for Philadelphia for more than a decade now. Last home game I missed was back in 1993 or so. I'm pretty sure the Wings travel to the Swarm this season, so if I can work it into my schedule, I might head out for the weekend to see the game. I've wanted to see Minneapolis for awhile now (plus one of my g/f ancestors founded the city of Minneapolis) , and the XCel center looks cool.

I played in high school, but wasn't really that good. At the time, I was just killing time until football season started. Too me, it's in the same boat as hockey. It's awesome live, but I don't care for it too much on tv. Although, I've never seen an indoor game on TV.

I'm lucky enough to live within an hour's drive or so of a bunch of good college programs.

The indoor game is tough to catch on TV, because a previous commissioner of the league screwed ESPN, so they won't cover the league. The US based teams that have TV coverage have to negotiate it themselves, and it's typically on local TV.

Actually, the Xcel Center is in St. Paul. Yes, there is a difference. It's a spectacular arena for hockey, so it will be for lacrosse as well. The only difference being the extreme hockey knowledge vs. the minimal lacrosse knowledge.
Feb. 20th, Swarm vs. Wings in MN! I'll PM you.....
