Starbucks is the name of Captain Ahab's first mate in Moby Dick, and Ahab is an Arab name, (I think based on the song called Ahab the Arab). So the coffee shop seems to be named after an American underling of a famed Arab. But I think back in those days that first mates and captains of whaling ships all had to be Nantucket natives which would make them of British origin. And I never read Moby Dick so I don't really know about it.

To be really consistent, I would suggest to stop paying taxes because our government invests in Israel.

Well, that has always been Lao's reason for singling out Israel for criticism for its atrocities: because his tax dollars support them.

Can we make that, "Well, that has always been Lao's reason for singling out Israel for criticism for its atrocities: because his tax dollars support them?" I like to think I'm not singling out anyone for atrocities...

“Few things are more democratic than popular actions of nonviolent political expression through economic activity. We should be standing back and applauding the obvious long-term positive implications of the emergence of a social activism unthinkable only a few years ago in this region. That it exists at all is where we want these societies to go. That it is directed at the U.S.A. is our problem.”
I would love to see the US government come out with praise for this type of protest. Isn't this what we want rather than terrorism? Or will we only be satisfied by capitulation?
