Default The big bull run

I was a lot more impressed by this thing until I read today that there are only "six bulls and six steers" on a 900-meter course. I was under the impression that there were hundreds of bulls. The runners are still idiots, but the risk isn't as great as I thought.

The immediate risk is not from the bulls, it is from the way too many people trying to run with the bulls. They trip over each other and then the bulls come along and gore the stragglers. You only look brave if you are running right in front of the bulls rather than way ahead of them so the pile up right in front of them results in injured people every time. Too risky for an actuary to partake.

From one of my favorite kids' movies:
"I was only trying to be brave like you, Dad."
"I'm only brave when I have to be."

I saw this on ESPN or one of its clones last year. There seemed to be a lot of trouble as they went around the corners also, the animals tended to slip on the pavement (the streets may be cobblestone, I don't quite remember) and there were pileups in the corners, kind of like Winston cup meets the NHL.

Yeah, cobblestone.

I hope to do this one day. Call me crazy, I don't care.
