I think when you were showing it was a PDF you meant to have x^1 (or just x), not x^r - just nitpicking typos .

Question:

Doesn't the exponential distribution with the coefficient 1/3 have a mean of 1/2 instead of 2...therefore the E(X)= 2/3*1 + 1/3*1/2 = 5/6.
