Default Advice

A male of friend of mine who's going through a divorce was recently given some advice by a married friend. He proceeded to ask all his married friends the question and they all responded the same way. I'd like to know your answer to the question. I'll post later which choice is the answer he was given.

Regardless of whether we are single, divorced, widowed, or married (happily or otherwise), I think it's in our human nature to believe that there is somebody out there that can make us happy, and who we can make happy. So, I think each of us is always looking for somebody who will "make my life complete" (to use Ammie's words from the old WC days). Whether we say we are looking or say that we want to find such a person or not, I think it is in our nature to keep seeking that person.

JMHO.

Once again, I'm going to suggest another answer in an ADIP poll...

What about, "Not for a really long time"?

I voted no, But Ozric Tentacles answer would fit better.

gee it's a good thing it's Friday, otherwise I'd clearly have too many more opportunities to screw things up this week! Sorry about that.

I don't expect to get divorced.

But I was happy as a single, and I was single until my mid thirties.

If something horrible did happen to break us up, I can't imagine at this point meeting someone with whom I would have a greater chance at happiness than I had with Mr. Maine-iac.

So I believe that I would stay single. (With the caveat that this is all speculative, and who knows what I would really feel in these circumstances.)

I discussed this once with my sister, though more in terms of widowed than divorced, and she also said that while she hopes to keep her husband, she does not see herself re-marrying should she be alone again at some point.

You should have said "divorced or widowed".

My girlfriend and I were just talking about this at lunch today, that is, if we will re-marry if we became widowed. We decided we'll just be lesbians and live together.
