ugh, this video was one on the side

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmz39...eature=related
Spoiler:

Sunrise at 7:14 am, sunset at 5:11 pm, how much daylight was there?
A) 9 hours 3 min
B) 8 hours 37 min
C) 9 hours 57 min
D) 8 hours 7 min

*Sigh* "I'm going to... I should probably take a lifeline because I didn't want math or time...I'm like crazy here but I'm gonna take a chance and I'm gonna go with... 9 hours 3 minutes."

What the hell the whole video was 1:45 long from before the question to getting it wrong she didn't even ATTEMPT to solve it she took a 25% chance guess.

How easy is to to look at the minutes and see it'll be a little less than an hour. I don't understand what goes on in people's heads when facing math.

Most people are scared of numbers.

If nothing else, it keeps those of us not scared on the gravy train.

A 16oz soda contains the equivalent of 20 sugar cubes. A 32oz soda has 41 sugar cubes. A 64oz soda, 87.

They didn't say all the cubes are the same size.

Okay, the 32 oz could have been due to rounding error. But the 64oz? The only thing I could guess would be that they are talking about fountain drinks, and maybe the ratio of ice to soda decreases for most people when filling a 64 oz?

Perhaps they got a metric sized bottle of about 64 oz. Or maybe they were selecting different flavors or brands.

LOL!!

Here are some piece of an e-mail I was just forwarded at work. Parties are Actuary, IT Gal, and IT Liason.

Liason forwards this e-mail to Actuary, coming from the IT gal who is trying to program some rates.

Quote:
Under (such and such) coverage…the rate is $10. When LCM x LC is figured I get 10.4975. My rounding makes me think it should be $11 or am I not supposed to look that deeply into it? That is the only one that was questionable to me
Liason says to Actuary: "I think the $10 is correct, can you please confirm?". Actuary finds this funny, but says "yes, it's $10." Liason tells IT Gal that the Actuary has confirmed that 10 is correct.

Incredibly, the IT gal sends the Liason this e-mail:
Quote:
Can you tell me why it doesn't round the way I'm thinking? Is it because it’s a .4 and that means it won't go up?
Also incredibly, the IT liason asks the Actuary: "Can you please explain this?"

LOL * 1000!
