Default Anyone else have this problem?

Hi face shavers,

I wonder something. If I shave my face every 1-3 days I rip it apart no matter what razor is used and there is blood everywhere especially on the neck and around the mouth. But if I wait >4 days when hair grows longer, it comes off so smoothly and effortlessly and there is not a scratch. Is this common to you too? I hate this because it forces me to look like a slob and it hurts the lady with stubble burn but I feel like I am giving myself permanant scarring when I draw that much blood. Suggestions and help please???

That used to happen to me. Someone told me to go buy a fog-free mirror, and shave in the shower. Great advice. Something about opening the pores, etc. But it works wonders. My shaves are very close now too.

Also, do not shave against the grain--i.e. shave downwards on your face.

you may also want to invest in a good shaving cream. I used to think they were all the same, but now I only use Edge or Gillette gel. I don't buy those "1/3 extra for free" anymore either, I find that these get "stale" after a while.

Dear Mr. Macavity,

I used to have a similar problem, though not as severe as yours. Eventually, I switched to a Norelco electric razor. In the beginning, it did not give me a very close shave, but after a month or so, it was almost as close as a regular razor. The difference was my face wasn't taking a beating any longer. In fact, it usually wasn't even red. I used electric razors for 5 years or so until my most recent one broke and I switched to the Schick Quattro, which has been nice to my face for the most part. If you are committed to staying with a regular razor, a previous poster presented some sage advice with the shaving cream issue. I use some fancy-pants gel, Aveeno, which has some sort of oatmeal base and I find it helps much. Also, I apply a Neutrogena moisturizer with SPF30 after I shave, which makes everything feel great. Don't use an alcohol based aftershave....use a moisturizer specifically designed for this purpose.

With highest regard,
HC

Those aren't good choices either. I just switched to this and noticed an immediate difference. I used to get razor burn on my neck daily. Haven't had it since.

I thought the same until a friend of mine gave it a good review, so I tried it. I've been using the Mach 3 power for about 6 months now, and I doubt I'll go back to anything else.

As for aftershave, I use this and just about every girl I know has commented on how soft my face is. So if you like chicks touching your face, give it a whirl.
