Are you expected to give a Halloween gift if you are in a relationship? What should those who receive a gift do if they didn’t get a gift for the other person? Will a “thank you” suffice?

Why would you get someone a gift on Halloween?

There should be no expectation of a gift.

However, anytime you see a little something your SO would like it doesn't hurt to give it without cause. So if Halloween is special to them, and you see something special, sure, why not?

Otherwise, I never knew anyone who expected a gift on Halloween.

Hey Draco! I decided to come join you. As for Halloween gifts, I always give them to my SO because I love Halloween and love doing it. OTOH, I never expect anything other than a thank-you.

I think that a figure of a red headed side kick from your favourite literary series would be an appropriate gift for any occasion!

Nah, no gifts expected or required. However, you might get some mileage out of Hershey's Kisses for the significant Trick or Treat-er if you play your cards right.

I have given candy in the past. The Hershey Kisses are a great idea. What other candy is considered romantic? What other gifts other than candy are considered traditional? Are there any good recipes for love potions? What does a love potion taste like? Perhaps glögg.

Hey, I just received a private message from the real Pseu. I’ll send some out. Click Private Messages at the top.

Of course any box of candy (heart shaped) is romantic, most come out around Valentines though. The little candy hearts.

If you want truly romantic... know what she likes and get that, especially if it a blast from the past item. If you know she likes chocolate covered orange peel or marshmellow peeps(for example), search it out.

Nothing is more romantic than having her know you listened and made an effort to find it.

If the message of the Hershey Kiss is a bit too tame, try Godiva chocolates. You could tell her that it's a suggestion for her Halloween costume.

Start now, and there will be an expectation.
