Default 8V - Importance of Past Exams

How important are past exams?

I've done them all. Are these a good indication of the quality of the exams?

Curious how many people do past exams for practice?

not me. it's like a biased estimator of the next exam. I prefer to spend my time working within an unbiased framework. imho, you are tossing a coin spending too much time working past exams. it could pay off well. then again, if the SOA throws a curve ball, you'll be faced with the same decision the following year.

I think it's only good to get some indication as to what the exam writers think is important. For example, you'll see risk management, alm, fv, duration, and defaults on almost every exam (or some combination).
