Default 2006 syllabus changes

According to the JAM website:

"The new edition is consistent with the 2006 syllabus (which converted from the 6th edition to the 7th edition of the Handbook). Several of the Handbook chapters changed substantially between editions. The Condensed Outline was revised to be consistent with the changes. There are a few more sample problems in the 2006 edition along with detailed solutions to the 2005 multiple-choice section of the exam."

That's what I needed for the final shot at course 6, was another change in book editions. Thanks SOA for the added cost! Now, I have to decide whether I can use a 2005 manual or if I have to buy a new study guide, too!

Roto's mentioned that the 7th edition has 22 different/new chapters from the 6th edition. Not sure whether it's renaming of chapters or a complete overhaul of information.

Other than that, though - Actuarial Bookstore released their order form, and only that book has a new edition for sale.

I haven't dug in carefully, but I'd be shocked if it was JUST numbering in any of the 22 cases. Some are probably completely new... some probably have a lot of overlap with additions/changes/subtractions of text. In the past SOA has said Edition A or Edition A(-1) when applicable... so given that they're requiring new edition, it's my assumption that edition (-1) will not suffice.

That's my thought too.. but I think I'm going to stick with the old manual but buy the new JAM flashcards and new Fabozzi book. Hopefully that will be good enough.

Here's something I don't understand - if the JAM guide is changing along with the new Handbook to Fixed Income Securities, then how come Actuarial Bookstore is offering the 2005 JAM cards?

Reasons:-
1. AB Stock Clearance
2. For those who don't do research/ join this forum/ ask around/ etc

Here's something I don't understand - if the SOA can release the syllabus to Mike C. (JAM) and the clowns over at BPP so they can build their study guides, why can't they release it to us!?!?
