Default NYT Reporter Exposes Child Porn Ring

Believe it or not, Ann Coulter has some kind words for the NYT this week:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ucac/2005122.../liveandletspy

Quote:
Apart from the day The New York Times goes out of business -- and the stellar work Paul Krugman's column does twice a week helping people house-train their puppies -- the newspaper has done the greatest thing it will ever do in its entire existence. (Calm down: No, the Times didn't hold an intervention for Frank Rich.)

Monday's Times carried a major expose on child molesters who use the Internet to lure their adolescent prey into performing sex acts for Webcams. In the course of investigating the story, reporter Kurt Eichenwald broke open a massive network of pedophiles, rescued a young man who had been abused for years, and led the Department of Justice to hundreds of child molesters.

I kept waiting for the catch, but apparently the Times does not yet believe pedophilia is covered by the "privacy right." They should stop covering politics and start covering more stories like this.
On the other hand, Slate's Jack Shafer, while praising the results, also criticizes Eichenwald for getting too involved personally with the story.

This woman is just nasty to the core. She can't even give deserved praise without suggesting the Times condones pedophilia.

She is just a whore for her audience.

I'm not sure praise is in order. I'd expect any news media to take this position on this issue, whether it is lib or con.

This would be similar to your boss saying "thank you for showing up for work today " ...each day. It is an 'expected' which doesn't really deserve (extra) praise.

I don't see much difference between abrasive remarks made by Coulter and those made by the head of the DNC, who claimed Republicans are evil, never made an honest living, etc. Well, I'll take that back.... One difference is that one is a political speaker/ author and the other is a former governor and Prez candidate who is the head of a national political party.

It's expected that a newspaper reporter break open a pedophilia/child prostitution ring?

I can only assume you didn't read what NoName actually posted.

Is that the reason the U of CT audience to her speech included lib students who only attended to heckle her? I'm confused; does that make those students the equivalent of 'johns'? Or, would the audience members who heckled her be the equivalent of 'free speech police' who effectively impinged on her right to 'pimp' her speech?

side point: try saying 'free speech police' three times fast.

Heckling is free speech too. Though, I am sure the university has the right to throw them out.... it is not like you can heckle a professor in class.
