Title: The First Annual World Championship of Battleship Poker
Log:
PokerStars has an announced an exciting new tournament that will be added to the schedule over the next three days. It's called The First Annual World Championship of Battleship Poker, and it's a $1,000 buy-in, single-elimination 64-player tournament. It's an online tournament (on PokerStars.com, of course), but will be played live down here at the Atlantis Casino in the Bahamas.

Why is it called "Battleship Poker?" Because it will be a series of heads-up matches with the two players facing each other with their laptops back-to-back (reminiscent of the classic kids game Battleship -- "You sunk my battleship!").

People from around the world will be able to watch live while it happens on PokerStars.com, and those who are down here in the Bahamas can watch it in person while the online game is shown on a large screen behind the players.

It's an open tournament available on a first-come, first-served basis. Anyone with $1,000 and a laptop can enter. (You must provide your own laptop, but PokerStars will provide power and an internet connection.)

The tournament rounds will resemble the NCAA Championship for college basketball, but the seats will be drawn randomly rather than seeding the players. (A similar format was used for last year's NBC Heads-Up Championship, which Phil Hellmuth won.)

The tournament will start tomorrow, and continue on Monday until they reach the Final Four. Those final four players will return to play Tuesday night, after the cocktail party that will follow the WPT Final Table. It should be a lot of fun -- you definitely won't want to miss it.

We'll provide updates when we learn more information, such as the blind structure and the payout structure, and once that tournament begins, we'll be providing live updates on that action as well.

If I was there, I would TOTALLY put down $1000 to play in an online tourny face to face.

(sarcasm implied).

Although Daniel seemed to think it was fun in his blog.
