Default Rice on Iran

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060118/...NlYwMlJVRPUCUl

Condi says that the world is united in its distrust of Iran's intentions...

I'm wondering what on earth Iran (that is, the people who run it) is thinking?

Is there any surveillience regime that could be imposed such that Iran can have its nuke power but the world is confident it's not developing nuke weapons?

Republicans will also tell you there's a coalition force in Iraq right now. I'm not sure I'd trust 'the world is united in..." coming from a Bushie.

Yeah, I'm hearing it other places too.

France or someone just smacked Iran down this morning.

Well that's different then. If France is in favor of it, then it's OK by me.

China sure isn't "united" with anyone on anything, particularly against Iran.

Probably not, there is not much difference in the fuel used for power plants and the material used for bombs, at least that is my understanding. It woul dbe hard to make sure they were not developing a bomb in a seperate, or secret, facility along with nuclear fuel. This would allow them to have the power plant and then when they want take some fuel and finish the bomb.

If the world does not trust a country then it is dangerous to let them have any type of nuclear material.

Here ya go:

It seems that the UK, France, the US, and Germany pretty much all agree, and Russia and China want less strict treatment of Iran.

All in all, I don't think Condi's been that bad an SoS. Our allies don't seem to hate her as much as I expected.

OK, I'm convinced. When can I start watching the carnage on my TV?

Does 'the world' trust Isreal, or just those who count?

I repeat my hypothetical from another thread:

What are the odds an Iranian nuclear-weapons programs leads to a war with Iran? What are the odds that such a war leads to a bigger world war, with US/Europe/Israel on one side and Russia/China/All the crazies on the other side?

This issue might not be partisan enough for people to trifle with, but the idea sure scares me. . .

So they would nuke themselves?

How does this issue show Bush is dumb?
