I'm interested... on the negative side... I'm currently 130 miles away from SF.. but I drive into the Bay Area frequently for family and work....

As far as how many people are writing M in the Bay Area and posting here... well, at least two 8)

I may be moving to SF at end of month for work. Not sure yet whether I will accept offer or not, but it would be good to have a study group for sure.

Ok I just accepted my offer, so count me in.

I will be in the SF area by end of February, early March. Wouldn't mind starting to get group sessions together by mid March. Would hope to be done Life Cons by then, then work my way to Loss Models.

I am using ASM and am a bit behind my set schedule, but I anticipate to wrap up life cons by end of March.

Rebecca,

Are you writing CAS 3 or Exam M?

I'm thinking of writing both. Using the Broverman manual right now, hoping to finish quick and do the Actex as well. Then in group sessions, we can do old exams, and lots of problems to ensure we understand each topic area fully.

I usually try to do two study manuals, but I think thats cause I'm usually slower than the normal actuarial student and need to do much more to pass.

My first round through though I'm just making sure I understand the material, making study notes and memorizing formulas. Second round through I'll just do problems. Hoping to get through round 1 by mid to late March.

I am a CASer writing M. I am using ASM primarily but I do have a copy of Broverman's as well.

Nice to know there are other slower's out there.

I would be interested in joining the study group. I'm also a CASer writing M and on the slow side. I am using the arch and temple study manuals.

They're definately slow actuaries out there... and I don't their quality of work suffers... there exam progress might.. but their work in general is very thorough and generally easier to understand and reproduce....
