Default Star Wars is dumb

Why do peoples like Star Wars? They seem pretty silly, unoriginally movies.

Reg's,

Reg's,
Man, Shakespeare sure ripped off Pyramus and Thisbe for his "Romeo and Juliette" play. How unoriginal...

Epic good v. evil themes have always been popular. Every generation has its own permutation.

aren't many that were fans of the original trilogy "old" and possibly "curmudgeon-ly" now though? i don't think their love for it has decreased...

I still haven't seen one from beginning to end - I think people who are into Star Wars, Star Trek, and any other stuff like that need to get a real life. Of course, if they enjoy it so much then let them have their pathetic life.

Has anyone seen the movie "Trekkies"? So scary, but so hilarious.

I am a Star Trek fan and I agree that movie was funny.

However, if you think that film represent the typical Star Trek fan, then you have no idea what you are talking about. Every hobby has its fanatics. Sprots has the people who yell obsenities at refs and people that cry when their teams leave town, music has its groupies and people that follow the band around the country, etc.

I was 10 when the first one came out and was completely captivated. The new ones really didn't do much for me. Could be a generational thing. I always thought the success was due to four "greats" -- great story, great characters, great music, great effects. The recent films were lacking in most of these departments except effects, which were probably overdone.
