Default Another college football scenario

Ok, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is right:

Suppose Arkansas beats LSU at home this weekend. Then, since Alabama is ineligible for post-season play, there would be a 3-way tie for first in the SEC West -- LSU, Auburn, and Arkansas. But Arkansas has beaten both of the other two. So suppose that they go on to beat Georgia in the SEC Championship. Can anyone really justify the Razorbacks being in a BCS bowl game?!? Would the universe still exist?

Now I don't care about the SEC, but I'd have a little problem with Arkansas in a good bowl game while Texas and Kansas St. play in lesser ones.

As easily as one could justify Florida State playing in one. (Argue until you're blue in the face, but your argument still stinks on ice.)

I'm guessing Arkansas would be the only school in the nation with wins over three schools having two or fewer losses. They will have beaten every bowl eligible team in the SEC West. They would have a seven game win streak.

Are you arguing that they are not a bad team or that they would deserve a BCS bowl? I'm not sure a seven-game win streak including close wins over Louisiana-Lafayette and Mississippi State is justification. And who's the third team besides Alabama and Georgia that you are referring to?

Winning the SEC Championship by virture of a Championship Game versus Georgia means more to me than having a one or a two loss season without any significant wins, especially since Arkansas would have beaten three of these schools. And no Alabama isn't one of the three. The Arkansas schedule is available. Perhaps you should take a gander.

I don't claim Arkansas is a good team. I think LSU will beat them. I also think Georgia would beat them. If I'm wrong on both of these, then I would be wrong about Arkansas. These two wins would prove to me Arkansas is a good team.

Boise State, South Florida, and (hypothetically) Georgia. My goodness! You're right! I take it all back! Any team that can beat these giants is #1 in my book.

I'm not saying they are a bad team either. I just think they would definitely be the worst team ever to make it to a BCS bowl (and there have been some questionable ones).

I'd make the argument that this year's FSU squad already holds that distinction.

Florida State could break that record. If they lose to Florida, they'd go to a BCS bowl with FIVE losses!!!

What sliced bread is getting at is that all the conferences should have a rule similar to the ACC's - they send the champ to the BCS, but not if there is another ACC team that is ranked ahead of them by 5 spots. Or something along those lines.

Buzz is right though, Arkansas wouldn't be the worst team in the BCS. Florida State would. Imagine what their record would be if they played in a real conference!

I find it hysterical that everyone's talking about when Bowden is going to catch JoePa for most career wins. This year JoePa's going to put a little more distance between him and Bowden!
