Default Not Annoying Commercials, But Not Happy Commericials Either

How about the inbetween commercials that make you smirk, but don't necessarily make you bounce off the walls with excitement?

I'll start.

Marshall Fields Christmas commercial with the three black guys singing some "Jingle jingle" song.

GAP commercial about starting a world train or something like that. The song is cool, IMO.

Yeah, that's the one. I kind of like it too, even though the people are way too skinny. The stripe-y sweaters are cool and I want one. Guess it worked.

How about the new Miller Light commercial with the two women? Of course some people find it annoying:

http://www.usatoday.com/usatonline/2...5/4780051s.htm

Quote:
Beermakers have been criticized for ''beer and babes'' ads that depict women as sexual objects. But a new Miller Brewing TV spot is being compared to some of the most notorious beer ads of the past, such as Old Milwaukee's ''Swedish Bikini Team.''

The Miller Lite commercial, called ''Catfight,'' goes from a poolside argument into an angry, clothes-shredding, wrestling match between two women who end up in bras and panties. The ad has been broadcast to millions of homes during National Football League playoff games.

The controversial spot has angered some TV viewers -- 200 of whom have e-mailed their displeasure to the Milwaukee brewer.

''Every time I see it, I cringe,'' says Laura Ries, an image guru. ''It's explicit. It's degrading. It has no real message, except all men are idiots and all they think about are girls mud wrestling.''
Also, apparently, since I don't watch cable, I've missed the unexpurgated version.

Quote:
The ad cuts to a bar. It turns out the catfight was the fantasy of two guys as their idea of a great ad. A cable version of the ad ends with the brunette saying to the blonde: ''Let's make out.''

I've had more than one of my guy friends interrupt a conversation with me to watch this commercial. Offensive or not, it's effective advertising.

It's only effective advertising if they remember what product the commercial was for. Next time after the commercial is over, ask your guy friend what product was advertised. He may not know.

So what's her point? Is there something misleading in that particular message?
