Default Who was your favorite kid from Degrassi?

No poll, there's too many.

Who was your favorite character from Degrassi Junior High and/or Degrassi High, and what was his/her traumatic event (if you can remember)? They all had a traumatic event at some point, some smaller than others.

Derek "Wheels" Wheeler was my favorite. The glasses, the mullet and the jean jacket were WAY too cool. And if memory serves, he had to deal with his mom dying, running away from his grandparents to find his dad, having some old dude in a station wagon attempt to molest him and being in a band with Joey Jeremiah.

It's probably the greatest (and at the same time, the worst) TV show to ever come out of Canada. Not my fault if you're unfamiliar

Not sure who my favourite from the show is, but I'm fond of a MILF at my company who is so petite, giggly, speaks in this tiny voice and looks so much like a schoolgirl that Livan & I refer to her as Degrassi.

if memory serves (or the DJH DVDs tell), Wheels lost both of his parents in a car accident. He was adopted, and his birth father appeared before his adoptive parents died. He also ended up drunk driving and crippling Lucy in the end.

Huge fan of Spike and Snake. So happy they got together in the "next gen".

Still waiting for Degrassi High to come out on dvd, and the final movie

Yeah. But wasn't there a stretch of episodes where he milked that tragedy for all its worth, even going as far as taking advantage of his friends' generosity in the process? Stole some money from Jeremiah's mother's purse, IIRC -- after Jeremiah had let him stay at his house when he had nowhere else to go -- and vehemently denied it when Jeremiah confronted him about it?

Oh, and he didn't run away from his grandmother's house; the old bag threw him out when she'd had enough of his lies.

It all worked out in the end, though. He came clean to Jeremiah -- admitted that he stole the money, and promised to repay him every penny.

man.. it seems I need a refresher course on my Wheels trivia. But I do sorta remember all of that now that you (swan and L. Mo) mention it.

One of the funniest moments (at least for me) was when the cop is looking for Shane after his big night out, and is interrogating one of his friends (can't remember who).

"You said you don't know anyone who does that stuff. We were talking about DRUGS. Do you remember saying that?"

Just the way the cop says "drugs" always makes me laugh.
