Default 750 reasons why

This is an outrage. The republican congress should act immediately to assert its authority over the laws it enacts. How dare the president disregard the will of the people and the force of law. How dare he assert that he knows enough about constitutional law to determine what laws he must enforce and which laws he may disregard. How dare he believe that his actions on what laws to follow and those to disregard is a secret he may keep from the American people and from the Congress. How dare he disrespect the system of checks and balances so important to maintaining this democracy.

As a member of the House, I beg you to take control of the situation and denounce the actions of the president. I beg you to hold this administration accountable for the damage being done to our democracy. The power of the president must be checked so that our democracy will work.

I understand that some of the laws that the president feels he can disregard is the regular reporting of his activities under the Patriot Act and the NSA spying program. He AGREED to compromise on these two things by keeping YOU informed of his activities and yet he is claiming he will not do so. This is alarming to me, and I hope it is alarming to you.

Again, I beg for your help in controlling this outrage.
Yours,
Mulan
I just sent my Rep this email about the Boston Globe story about the president disregarding up to 750 laws. I don't see how even the most rabid of Bush Supporters could disagree with my letter to my Rep, so I urge you to send something similar to yours. www.house.gov

the important thing is that the Boston Globe is owned by the New York Times, which isn't always quite honest about politics.

The REALLY important thing is that if you don't like the message, attack the messenger.

If you're going to attack GWB, do it for the right reasons, in an informed way.

If you don't like the massage, attack the massager.

Someone doesn't know how the government works. Congress passes laws. The President enforces them. If the President feels a law is unconstitutional, he is under no obligation to enforce them.

But he does have an obligation to -follow- them. The President breaking the law is an impeachable offense.

If he chooses not to enforce them, then noone, including him, has to follow it.
