The Dolphins better beware this weekend.

As for the tie break question the washington and atlanta games do count twice.
You're right, the Vikings look like a much better team than earlier this year. I expect them to beat Wanny's team.

I'll be the first to agree. The Vikes are playing well right now and have nothing to lose. They gotta somehow be able to put some pressure on Culpepper.

7 Eagles named to Pro Bowl, but none are named McNabb. Who would have thought that could happen?

Quote:
The Eagles selected were defensive end Hugh Douglas, tackle Tra Thomas, cornerbacks Troy Vincent and Bobby Taylor, kicker David Akers, safety Brian Dawkins and guard Jermane Mayberry.

Marshall Faulk was also named. I'd have to question whether he was actually worthy this year.

Edit to add: I'm not sure how many tailbacks get taken from each conference (two, I thought?), but Deuce McAllister and Ahman Green should be ranked ahead of Faulk, I'd think

Oops, based on last year's roster, it's three tailbacks. And the NFC seems thin enough at that position that the third and fourth best would probably be Garrison Hearst and Faulk. And I'd give a big edge to Faulk there.

Good to see that Marty Booker made the pro Bowl for the Bears. He has been double and triple teamed all year because other teams know he's the go to guy. In spite of that and the Bears' terrible offense, he's still 3rd in receptions and 3rd in receiving yardage in the NFC.

What a shock :o You know, I heard upon learning his nomination, Marshall said "I do believe we have a chance to possibly beat the AFC this year." What a jerk! Go to hell, Faulk!

With 14 out of 16 games under his belt, Faulk has 897 rushing yards (9th in the NFC). He has 10 total TDs (tied for 3rd). For some reason I don't fully understand, receiving totals for backs tend to be discounted pretty substantially (Faulk has an additional 490).

Tiki Barber has 1123 rushing, 520 receiving, and 9 TDs.
Deuce McAllister has 1245 rushing, 342 receiving, and 16 TDs
Ahman Green has 1057 rushing, 371 receiving, and 9 TDs.
Garrison Hearst (splitting carries) has 867 rushung, 292 receiving, and 8 TDs - pretty comparable to what Faulk has as a full-time back.

Thinking about it, I think it should have been Barber, McAllister, and Green who got the nod - I'd like to hear your argument otherwise.

I'm just waiting for the day that you post something to the effect of "I sure do respect this person associated with the Rams organization. He is good at what he does in addition to being a quality character. He deserves recognition." Right now all I see is another hater.

However, I cannot argue the fact that Faulk pretty much got in based on his name rather than his stats this year.

Marshall Faulk is the greatest player in the NFL in the last few years. If he stays healthy for a little bit longer, he'll go down as one of the all-time greats (I wouldn't have even qualified that, except for seeing what happened when Terrell Davis went out). He also seems to be a great all-around guy, as evidenced by his interview with Bob Costas earlier this year when he got all torn up because he didn't want to lie and he didn't want to bash his offensive line.

Kurt Warner had been a phenomenal QB the last few years, and has perhaps one of the five greatest personal stories in the NFL. Another great all-around guy.

Torry Holt is one of the greatest receivers in the game. Orlando Pace is one of the best offensive tackles in the game. Marc Bulger may be the best #3 quarterback ever to start for a team (I don't know who else has, so take that with a grain of salt).

But that doesn't make me blind or stupid. Faulk is a great player, but there are three more deserving NFC running backs so far this season.

Kurt Warner is a great QB and person, but it still appeared that he did not perform well this season even while he claimed to be healthy. I think that leaves a question of whether this is a fluky performance or whether he just collapsed under the pressure when the team stopped clicking. Somebody described one of our former company VP's with "Anybody can steer the ship in good weather." And Warner was the ideal QB for the high-powered attack they led the last few years. Personally, I think he just had a bad start to the season and has been playing hurt all year long. But it's still a fair question to ask - is it injury, is it skill, is it bad luck, or is it character? I don't think it's a question of skill or luck. But it's a question we'll need to answer next year (even if Martz pulls a Bellicheck and does something stupid like trade him to Cincinatti).

Does that count, or does it not count because I have a few objective thoughts thrown in with the praise for your Rams?
